The

Manifesto

Our Philosophy

The Hideout isn't just a getaway; it's a recalibration. We believe that play is essential for the adult soul, and nature is the only true place to find it.

why we exist

Our Vision

The world is loud, and most of us are running on empty.

We’re always “on”,  working, caring, scrolling, managing everyone and everything all at once. Somewhere between work deadlines, group chats, and expectations, we got buried under busy. It got harder to hear ourselves. Harder to rest. Harder to play.

The Hideout was created as a pause button: a few days to step away, get outside, and remember what a full, alive life feels like. It’s a place to laugh, move, make things with your hands, and be around people who get it.

A reminder that creativity, beauty, and time offline aren’t luxuries, they’re how we come back to ourselves.

The Hideout isn’t about checking out of life, it’s about checking back in.

To make time off feel like a real reset, not just “more logistics in a different location.”

To help people go home feeling: more present than when they arrived rested in their body, not just their mind creatively refueled like themselves again.

We believe adults deserve spaces that are thoughtful and fun, designed for real energy levels, not fantasy versions of ourselves.

The Hideout is one of those spaces: grounded, beautiful, a little nostalgic, and most importantly: human.

What We Do

We host curated, small-scale summer camp experiences. We handle the logistics, the bonfires, group challenges, simple FUN so you can focus on building trust with your inner child again.

What We Believe

Who It’s For

  1. Play is not a luxury. It’s how we recharge.

  2. Laughter counts as therapy.

  3. Nature and design belong together. Spaces can be cozy and beautiful.

  4. Everyone is creative even if they haven’t made anything in years.

  5. Rest is a right, not a reward. You don’t have to earn it by burning out first.

Good food, good fun, and fresh air do more for the soul than another weekend of errands and emails.

You shouldn’t have to perform or pretend to belong.
Being yourself is the whole point.

The Hideout is for adults who:

  • are employed full-time, freelance, caregiving, between jobs, or just… tired

  • feel a bit burned out, overstimulated, or stuck on autopilot

  • miss feeling creative, playful, and inspired

  • want time in nature but don’t want to plan every detail

  • like the idea of meeting good people, without forced “networking”

It’s not for everyone.

It’s probably not your place if you’re looking for:

  • a party weekend with zero sleep

  • a silent monastery-style experience

  • a strict self-optimization bootcamp

  • A yoga or meditation retreat

It is for you if you’re craving a long weekend that feels like:

“Finally. Something that refills me instead of draining me.”

What You Can Expect
How It Feels

At The Hideout, you can expect:

  • 3–4 days away from your usual routine

  • A small group, curated for kindness and openness

  • A cozy, design-forward space in or near nature

  • A mix of planned activities and real downtime

  • Clear communication before, during, and after

  • A price that reflects quality and care without getting ridiculous

You’ll leave with:

  • shoulders a little lower

  • nervous system a little softer

  • a few simple practices to bring home (not a 40-page workbook)

  • new memories, maybe new friends & a renewed sense of: “Oh. There I am.”

A weekend that fills your cup instead of emptying it.

Here, you’re not expected to achieve anything. Just to show up, take a breath, and let the rest happen.

The Hideout is designed to feel:

  • Easy – clear info, simple schedules, no pressure to “do it all”

  • Warm – kind people, gentle hosting, space for introverts and extroverts

  • Playful – campfire energy, lightness, room for silliness

  • Grounded – no spiritual bypass, no forced sharing circles

  • Intimate – small groups so you’re a person, not a headcount

You can join everything or disappear with a book.

You can paint badly, laugh loudly, cry a little in the woods if you need to, and come back to the table when you’re ready.

The Invitation

If you’ve been craving time away that feels good to your body and brain, not like one more thing on your to-do list, consider this your sign.

Pack your comfiest clothes. Bring your curiosity, your sense of humor, and your real self. We’ll handle the rest.

We can’t fix the world, but we can help you feel better in it.

The Hosts

jen serrat

Founder & Camp Host

Jen created The Hideout after experiencing burnout and realizing how much she missed the feeling of being a kid again: no pressure, nothing expected of you, and you could just get lost in whatever the day brought.

With a background in community building and events, she designed The Hideout to bring that feeling back in a way that works for adult life.
